THE BIRDS IN THE STORM

The wind was howling at 7 AM and snow was piling up fast. The birds were huddling in the courtyard, and taking turns at the feeder, which was running very low on seed.

This bird has its feathers fluffed out to provide more air spaces, creating insulation from the cold.

BIRDS BEFORE THE STORM

The birds consumed the entire feeder in half the usual time in a pre-storm feeding frenzy today. We have been looking for a heated dog bowl so we can keep them watered without our water freezing over, but so far no luck.
