Trilliums were found in a small patch here.
Most of the shrub layer was dominated by the invasive exotic, Â Coral ardisia (Ardisia crenata) which was full of bright red berries. This Asian plant was brought in for landscaping purposes. Here it is dominating the landscape! (Pictured below)
A nice boardwalk through the woods though.
Having spent many days here building sandcastles, swimming and enjoying the surf, it was great to look down and see the whole place! A barrier island, like one from Sandy hook New Jersey to all the way down here in Sunny Florida, the East coast of the U.S. is framed by them.
Once out on the Barrier Island we can hear the ocean roar!
