  1. I was at Shenks Ferry Saturday. It was so pretty. I’ve never heard of Ferncliff Preserve. Is it similar to Shenks Ferry?

    1. Patty, it is much more low-key with much less parking. It is similar in that it follows a river, and then there is a trail that goes up to the top of the bluff. It is different in that you are treated with a wonderful view of the Susquehanna river at the top. Many of the same plants can be found as well. It definitely has a different atmosphere and mood compared to Shenks. Shenks ferry also has a very social and community atmosphere with nice wide trails and benches. There is a lot of opportunity to interact with other flower enthusiasts. Ferncliff is more isolated, providing one with more opportunities to contemplate nature and feel inspired to catch up on some Romantic era poetry, like Wordsworth or Thoreau.
