The Cardinals have been darting about in the snowy landscape this morning. In the snow they make an especially picturesque winter view.

THE BIRDS IN THE STORM

The wind was howling at 7 AM and snow was piling up fast. The birds were huddling in the courtyard, and taking turns at the feeder, which was running very low on seed.

This bird has its feathers fluffed out to provide more air spaces, creating insulation from the cold.
