A few years ago we planted Milkweed seeds on our block in front of a vacant lot. Last year we had Monarch butterflies playing out their life cycle on them and this spring they are back! Phots taken Saturday May 11, 2019

Our backyard and a vacant lot on our block we purchased and transformed into a native plant garden are flourishing with a rich diversity of Pennsylvania native spring wildflowers. Trillium erectum, Trillium grandiflorum, Cornus florida, Lonicera sempervirens, (‘major wheeler’) Mertensia virginica, Dicentra cucullaria, Aquilegia canadensis …..
We found some bloodroot growing with a big seed pod as well!

West Fairmount Park, Philadelphia
Geranium maculatum, Cornus florida, Asimina triloba, Arisaema triphyllum,
